What is a Vision Board?
“A Visonboard is a visual representation of what you want, what you desire to experience in your life.”
I was introduced to the idea of the vision boards maybe about 10 yrs ago. The first time I did a vision board I didn't fully believe that it will work but I thought I give it a chance. My first vision board was full of 'stuff' that I wanted to have but couldn't afford to buy at that time. One of the main things I was excited about to have was a juicer. So I put a picture of a juicer on my vision board and I imagined that I am getting one as a gift. The whole process of doing my board was very exciting and frankly exhilarating as I was sitting in my living room surrounded by tons of magazines, pencils, markers, cellotape and glue. As I was listening to my favorite music I thought to myself even if it doesn't work out I am enjoying myself so much that for sure I am gonna do this again.
The next day after I finished my vision board Hannah, my good friend and next door neighbor came over and I was excited to show her my board and tell her about what a great idea it is. I told her that is my first goal was to attract a juicer for free.
Imagine my astonishment when she said, oh I have a juicer I don't use at all, I am happy to give it to you! And I was like: I ca't believe what just happened, this is really working!
Today my vision boards are more sophisticated and my creativity and imagination moved well beyond the juicer:))
I am excited to share with you here and now my experience and inspire you to create a board for yourself! So here it goes.
Amazing benefits of Vision Boards
Clarity - Get clear on what you want!
When you start making your vision board you will find that the more you focus on what you want the more ideas will come to you and the more clarity you get of what exactly do you want.
Focus - Focus on what you desire!
The vision board is like a focus point that helps you to keep your focus on your 'target', keep your focus on what you desire instead of focusing on what you do not have or want. Once you finished your board and placed it somewhere where you can look at it every day, it will help you to remember focusing on your desire instead of your 'problems', I guarantee that every time you will look at it you will feel uplifted and more optimistic about your situation and over time you learn to look at 'the bright side of life'!
Inspiration - Get inspired and make your dreams come true!
As you are making your vision board you feel inspired and excited to bring your vision into life. It is simply not possible to feel 'bad' while you are making your vision board. I call this a 'feel good' factor. It is super easy to make a vision board you can start right now and have some fun!
Creativity - the sky is your limit!
Over the years I saw many vision boards some were 3D crazy objects so all I can confidently say – the sky is the limit! Good news for 'system-busters' that there are no rules, it is a great opportunity to unleash your creative side and play!
Manifestation - it is a powerful tool for manifestation

In my life the vision boards evolved from a "fun thing to do but I am not sure if it will work out" to a powerful tool of manifestation and focusing intention. My experience is that 'be careful what you wish for because you get it' is absolutey true. This fun and elevating practice helped me beyond measure to become more aware of what is important for me, what exactly I want and most importantly an ongoing evidence that I can get whatever I focus my energy on. It helped me to move out from the complaining victim mode, focusing on what I don't want or why I don't get what I want to being a more responsible creator of my life and my reality. Over the years many things came true from my 'boards' in magical ways that always leave me in gratitude and awe of the power we all posses.
How to make a vision board?
Let's get down to the practical matters now. As I said there are really no rules but I am excited to share some ideas with you for your exploration.
Types of vision board
General or Specific?
You can do a general vision board, for example I do one at the end of each year I do one for my next year about how I want my life in general to feel and look like. It also very easy to make a board for a specific area such as health or home, or for a project you are working on or want to create.
Paper or electronic?
Most of my boards were on paper and I have to say it has a 'feel' to it to go to the store and buy colorful pencils and paint and glue and colored paper. I loved to sit on the floor cutting my way through tons of magazines and sticking glue in my hair although that was not part of the project. In the end you can take a digital picture of your board and use it on electronic devices too. If you choose to make a vision board on the computer and it is also very much fun and it is easy to surf the net for the best pictures and inspirations. If you have a mac there is a great app called Fotor that you can use to make your vision board to look super professional!
